Bitcoin Goes from Strength to Strength

Bitcoin, gold, payment, Quartz, standard, money, currency, payment, digital payments,

While the digital currency that is bitcoin has hit some hurdles along the way, it's certainly come into its own as an appealing alternative currency for many people out there.

And now, to help round things off, it's value against gold has gone up rather exponentially over the year.

Having started the year being worth as little as 0.0079 toz of gold per bitcoin, it's now sat at around 0.2675 toz of gold per bitcoin.

This is partly because the value of gold has dropped as bitcoin has risen – gold started the year trading at $1,687.90 per toz. Bitcoins started the year worth just shy of $13.30 each too.

This graph from Quartz illustrates the severe increase in bitcoin value against gold.
