UK Mobile Payment Solution Droplet Gains Lucrative Business Partners

UK mobile payment platform Droplet has signed a lucrative deal with two national UK companies to become the mobile payment platform of choice for both major retailers.

After a highly successful trial in Birmingham that saw 2500 users and 60 merchants adopt the platform, Droplet has teamed up with national rail service Chiltern Railways, who provide transport to the Western coast and side of Britain, and long-stay airport parking company, Airparks.

The deals mark out the successful launch of Droplet across London – a far cry from the business’ origins in a Birmingham coffee shop.

"Our vision is to change the way the world uses money, starting with payments," explained co-founder Steffan Aquarone.

"We think that payments should be free because there are no actual costs involved in moving money around. The web is particularly good at de-bunking closed systems and Droplet leverages the power of the internet to do to payments what Skype did to international calls.

"We've proved it works with the trials in Birmingham, but if we are to continue the roll-out we need to attract the national retail chains and this is what we've been negotiating over the last couple of months."

Naturally, these two lucrative deals aren't the end of the line for Droplet as they hope to snap up further deals with other retailers across the UK.

"Getting Chiltern Railways and Airparks on board is fantastic news and we are currently in discussions to agree further deals," added Aquarone.
