Well, Apple certainly knows how to whet the appetite of its fans. We reported earlier on how Apple's entry into the NFC landscape, could very well prove to be the spark which ignites an industry looking and waiting for an opportunity for growth. Apple has filed an application for a patent, which would give them the option of including NFC payments into future versions of their iPhones. Reported in Patently Apple recently, they were awarded the "Granted Patent" which meant that they were able to establish rules, regarding financial transactions carried out via their future devices.
According to the article, Apple feels that in the future people will turn to more convenient forms of payment. Therefore it would be natural for Apple to ensure that it is at the forefront of such a trend. While being awarded a patent in no way confirms that Apple will include NFC technology in its future iPhones. It will however, ensure that it is in the best position to provide NFC convenience for their users in the future.
