Reported in NFC World, Sony and NTT Docomo has announced a partnership with Samsung to come up with a new chip solution which will be in line with global NFC standards. Furthermore the chip solution will be able to support the current mobile payment system which is exists in Japan.
All of Japan's mobile operators currently have a mobile payment system which currently runs on the Osaifu-Keitai platform. This however is before their commitment to move to the NFC platforms, which is currently gaining traction around the world. With this strategy, all of Japan's mobile network will in the near future,will not only be able to purchases via their mobile phones but also support peer to peer functionality. The hope is that with this deep integration, further development in NFC can take place not only in Japan but around the world.
