RFID technology has been commonly-adopted and used in traffic systems to control congestion and traffic conditions (see here). Seen in The National , Thailand is now implementing a RFID camera system which they are hoping will be instrumental in cutting down the number of speeding vehicles on Bangkok's expressways. From April 1 onwards, public transport vans will need to be equipped with RFID tags which will cost the owners an annual cost of 120 Baht annually. Paired with heftier fines in speeding and implementing flexible fences along certain expressways, the Thai government hopes that these new implementations will help reduce the number of traffic incidents caused by speeding and reduce incidents of cars falling from the expressway.
