Westfield Marketing Director John Batistich will be sharing his vision on the future of the shopping experience at The Retail Show 2012 (March 20-21, Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre)
John sees the shopping experience of the future being a highly localised, social experience facilitated by consumer interface with retailers through their mobile devices.
Westfield has already begun to create such an experience with the early introduction of facebook check-ins.
"Facebook Places launches in Australia and Westfield quickly leverages the check-in service, to bridge the gap between its off and online offering to broaden reach.
When shoppers â€˜check-in' at Westfield shopping centres they will receive discounts from participating retailers, including apparel retailer Cotton On (that recently launched its own e-commerce site) and jewellery-chain Angus & Coote.
